The annual monsoon season has started in Sri Lanka. This means, it's rainy season in the southwestern part of the island (particularly Sinharaja Rain Forest) and dry season in the northern and eastern plains (where most national parks are situated). Many wild animals can be sighted right now, particularly amidst wildlife parks, where fruits are ripening now. Therefore, July is the best month to observe Sloth Bears in Yala and Wilpattu. Sri Lanka's regions most affected by heavy monsoon rainfall during the July to September season are: Kalutara District in the Western Province, Galle District in the Southern Province, and Ratnapura District in Sabaragamuwa Province. Today, several spells of showers occur in the Central Province. Additionally, some thundershowers are taking place at a few places in the Eastern Province and Uva Province. |
