See the Temples of Angkor in a unique way: really avoiding the crowds
When traveling to Cambodia you should definitely not miss to see the heritage highlights of the ancient Khmer civilisation such as Angkor Wat, the world's largest ancient temple building, Angkor Thom, famous for its face towers, Ta Prohm, the picturebook "jungle temple" overgrown by large trees, and all the other attractions along the two major tourist routes in Angkor near Siem Reap, which are commonly called "Small Tour" and "Grand Tour".
However, guests expecting "lonesome temples hidden in the jungle" will probably be disappointed, because the famous temples mentioned above attract millions of guests from all parts of the world each year and they are crowded (almost!) all day long.
Nonetheless, travel experiences of charming little Khmer Temples off the beaten path are still an option. There are literally thousands of ancient structures in Cambodia and some of them are never mentioned in any guidebooks. Or did you ever read, for example, about Phnea Kol? Admittedly, we wouldn't know it, either, if not a guest with prepared maps had been eager to go there with the help of driver Pheak.
Our sister agency in Cambodia, Unique Asia Travel & Tours in Siem Reap, and their most-requested driver for special expeditions, Pheak, would be glad to welcome you, if you want to see both the famous large temples of Angkor - at times when there are comparatively less busloads - and those truly tranquil ancient sites, where you will only hear the noises of the jungle, undisturbed by other tourists.
By the way: All 10 photos of the slideshow above are taken at such highly recommended places of interest that are less frequented.
