This is the ultimate Sri Lanka hiking you can manage to pack into only 10 days! On foot, you will explore four different hiking and trekking areas. Combined, they represent all four regions that together form the island's two natural World Heritage Sites, namely (1) Sinharaja Rain Forest and (2) Central Highlands of Sri Lanka, the latter consisting of (a) Peak Wilderness, (b) Horton Plains, (c) 3 hikes on 3 days in Ella, and (d) Knuckles Range.
The tropical rain forest is the easier hike for a start. Later on, you will climb more than 4000 steps nocturnally to arrive on the summit of Adam's Peak just in time for the spectacular sunrise, the holiest moment on Sri Lanka joliest mountain. Afterwards, relax by enjoying a highland train ride and and an afternoon free in the cool climate of Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka's highest city. The next morning will be spend on Horton Plains for the classic hike to Little and Big Adam's Peak and Baker's Falls. Afterwards, you will stay 3 nights in Ella for enjoing 3 different hikes in the Uva tea mountains. In the afternoon of the last day in Ella you then proceed to Kandy and visit a tea factory on the way. The most challenging tour is the final 2-days trekking with an overnight stay at a camp in Knuckles Range, Sri Lanka's hiking and trekking destination number one. The tour starts and ends in Colombo or Negombo or at the International Airport. In the afternoon, we will drive downwards into the Ella Gap for a refreshing bath in the natural pool of Ravana Falls. - overnight stay in Ella - day 07 This morning is reserved for climb to the highest peak in the hills of Ella, namely to Ella Rock. On the way back, you will also visit the Ravana Caves. The afternoon in Ella is free for relaxation. - overnight stay in Ella - day 08 In the morning, you will climb to Lipton Seat, which is one of the most famous vantage points of the island, adterwards, we proceed to Nuwara Eliya for a small city tour, you will also visit of a tea factory and plantation on the way to Kandy - overnight stay in Kandy - day 09 The next 2 days are spent on the Thangappuwa Trek in Knuckles Range. Starting time will be 8.30 am in Kandy after breakfast. Starting point of the trek is Urispaththuwa-Scolamuduna 40 km east of Kandy. The hike of the first day will start around 9.30 or 10.00 am and is about after 14 km long. Water and snacks and fruits will be provided between start and lunch at a panoramic viewpoint after 4 km. Local lunch packed will be served at a waterfall after another 6 km walking. There is a bathing opportunity in a natural pool at the waterfall. The lunch break will last about one or one and a half hours. After another 4 km the camp will be reached around 4.00 pm. The rest of the day is free to enjoy the untouched surroundings. Tea will be served immediately after arrival. Local-style Dinner, also included in the tour costs, will be served at a time of your choice. A campfire will be sparked to warm you in this cool climate. - camping overnight stay - day 10 On the second day, you will start after breakfast at 8.00 am for a more strenuous hike of about 22 km this day. First, there will be a 2 km climb to a summit for a panoramic views, the first and last parts of the climb are steep, but no roap is required. In the flatter middle part, there will be a waterfall. From the very top, 1.5 km of the same path has to be walked back. Afterwards, the longer hike will lead to the Gomare side of Knuckles Range. Lunch will be served on the way. Yoo will reach the final point at around 3.30 or 4.00 pm. At last, a 30 km Tuk Tuk drive will bring you to the A/C vehicle for pick-up.
