Apart from the attractions such as heritage sites and wildlife parks, there are two characteristics of the island that make travelling in Sri Lanka so delightful. One is the colour of green, in all shades, varying from region to region, but always predominent. The other one is the reason for that eyecatching green cover of the island, namely the abundance in water and in sounds of water. The tropical island of Sri Lanka is a paradise for lovers of water for sure. Waterfalls, of course, belong to this national treasure. Some are crowded with tourists, but most waterfalls on the island can be enjoyed in a truly meditational way, because they remain to be undisturbed by human noise for most of the time. There are literally hundreds of waterfalls to discover in the hillcountry, and to be honest, we do not know even half of them by personal experience. However, we hope our choice of lonesome waterfalls can convince you: If you love the sights and sounds of water, there is a lot to discover for you in Sri Lanka.
