The former President of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapakse has chances to win the next general elections. His newly founded the SLPP won 40% of the votes in regional elections last February, whereas the UNP of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe came second with 29% and the the UPFA, which is led by incumbent President Maithripala Sirisena and was formerly the party of Mahinda Rajapakse, received 12% of the electoral votes. |
