The name given to the island by early Arab traders was “Serendib”, which gave rise to the English word “Serendipity”. Sri Lanka has nine provinces and 25 districts; the diverse land of this beautiful island has many treasure troves to discover or inviting to be studied in some detail. The island nation’s population is more than 20 million people.
